Ardell Magnetic Accents False Lashes

I’m always looking for ways to make my makeup routine easier and while I don’t wear false lashes that often, I would love to be able to where them without having to apply lash glue.

I had seen these Ardell Magnetic Accents in a KathleenLights video on YouTube, so I quickly ordered them on Amazon and crossed my fingers in the hopes that these magnetic wonders would give me the lashes of my dreams without the sticky mess.

But sometimes things that sound like a great idea just don’t work in reality…

How Ardell Magnetic Lashes Work

Ardell’s Magnetic Accent lashes are a ¾ length lash bands. There is an upper and a lower lash band that magnetically attach to each other by 3 separate magnets evenly spaced along each band. When the upper and lower lash bands are brought close together, the magnets attach. Your natural lashes are sandwiched between the two magnetic bands, which is how the bands stay on.

Learning to apply the Magnetic Accents is definitely tricky at first, but does get easier with a few tries. Ardell recommends applying the top lash first (laying it on top of your own lashes) and then applying the lower lash band underneath and allowing the magnets to do their thing. However, I found reversing the order (lower lash first, then top) worked a lot better for me, since I could close my eye and hold the lower lash in place while I fiddled with the placement of the top one.

That being said, I had a few issues with Ardell’s Magnetic Accents…

Do They Work?

First, it’s difficult to get the bands to attach to each other along the lash line. I find the last magnet on my outer corner always ends up in the middle of my lashes instead of right next to my eyelid.

Second, since the Accents are only ¾ in length and not a full lash, they tend to look wonky on me; the outer corner lashes with the Accents look super long while my natural inner corner lashes look super short in comparison. You can get a better idea of what I’m talking about in the pic below – crazy looking, right? Maybe a full lash would have been a better choice?

Third, when looking down, you can clearly see that the lashes are fake, since the Accents lash band is thicker than the usual glue-down variety. Being only ¾ in length, this also draws attention to the lashes being false. You can see what I’m talking about in the pic below:

To conclude, my dream of non-glued false lashes died the day I tried Ardell’s Magnetic Accent lashes, so I’ll be sticking to my L’Oreal Voluminous Base Lash Primer and mascara combo, thank you very much!

Have you tried magnetic eye lashes?
