Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask From Amazon

I had heard through the beauty grapevine that this Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask is a best- seller on Amazon beauty for its pulsing sensation and oil destroying ability.

It has thousands of positive reviews from users claiming it cleared up their acne and improved their complexion and has developed a cult following.

So how can you use this bentonite clay mask to improve your skin? You’re going to find out…

Benefits Of Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay masks are great for absorbing excess oil and deep cleaning pores, while detoxifying the skin and reducing inflammation. Some people also swear by this clay to:

-remove odour from their feet

-detoxify their arm-pits

-spot treatment for pimples

-detoxify hair and improve curls

How To Use The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask is a brown powder; the mask itself is a paste and is created by mixing equal parts of the powdered bentonite clay with equal parts apple cider vinegar.

You can also substitute the apple cider vinegar with water, but the vinegar version is more effective due to its exfoliating benefits (although if you’re more sensitive, use water).

I originally mixed 1 teaspoon of clay with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and stirred until I got a thin, fizzing paste (mask hack: you can also mix everything in a Ziploc bag!).

First Impressions & Clay Mask Tips

After applying a thin layer of the mixture to my t-zone, I waited about 10 minutes to let the mask do its thing (if you leave this one on too long, it will suck your life force right out of you – it’s strong!).

I only used a portion of the mixture, so I would definitely only mix about a quarter to a half teaspoon of the product in the future to avoid wasting it.

The apple cider vinegar does give the skin a little  bit of a tingle at first, but nothing painful or irritating.

The tingling sensation disappears once the mask starts to dry.

As the clay tightens, it actually does make your face pulsate!

This is because the clay contracts as it dries, which stimulates blood flow to the skin, which is always a plus. A very cool sensation, nonetheless.

I removed the mask after 10 minutes using a damp face cloth.

I’ve read previous reviews from people complaining that if the mask is left on too long it can be hard to remove, but it dissolved easily for me using  warm water.

Some users have complained that this clay mask clogged up their sink – I didn’t have this issue but to avoid it, I suggest wiping it off with a paper towel that you can easily toss in the trash afterwards.

Tip: Clay masks can be drying.

Avoid leaving them on for too long so they don’t absorb too much oil – once your skin begins to feel tight I suggest removing the mask.

Did It Work?

After removing the mask, my skin was a bit pink, but not uncomfortable.

I didn’t feel any tightness or irritation from the clay and my skin wasn’t overly dry by any means, but was definitely matte.

My pores did appear smaller and it deep cleaned my pores, although I was a bit disappointed that the blackheads on my nose had not budged one bit.

I was hoping the “world’s most powerful facial” would rip those suckers right out, but it wasn’t to be.

In truth, I have yet to find a clay mask that has been able to do this, so maybe this is an unfair expectation?

Overall, I do enjoy using this mask and have used it several times since, including this past weekend before attending a wedding.

It’s been very effective for reducing the size of my pores and is great for normal to oily skin types.

Again, I recommend not leaving the mask on for more than 10 minutes (I usually only leave it on for about 5 minutes now) as I don’t believe it makes the mask more effective and it can actually absorb too much oil, leaving skin dry.

  2. I see this mask all the time on Amazon. I am curious to try it out, it seems like a good mask for good value. It’s too bad about the blackheads, but I followed your link to the Korean product and wow I really want to try that too!

  3. I read so many great reviews about this mask yet I haven’t tried it. I have so many masks to finish, so hopefully when I finish the ones I have, I will give this a try. “Smaller pores” sound great 🙂

  4. I’ve used this many times and it is my favorite face mask ever, and I’ve tried a lot of face masks! If you get it from a vitamin store, it’ll be cheaper than ordering it on Amazon. The clay is packaged in Nevada, which is where I’m from. I seriously can’t get enough of this mask, I used it earlier tonight!

  5. This mask sounds pretty good, even though it didn’t quite live up to your expectations, it does sound like it did a pretty decent job and I like that it’s quite affordable, also. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts! <3

  6. I’ve seen this mask mentioned multiple times around the Instragram skincare community and I’ve had a look at the many reviews on Amazon. I honestly think that for blackheads, nothing can make them disappear (at least nothing that I’ve tried so far) but you have to extract them and then work to prevent them from coming back. I don’t have oily or blemish prone skin so I think a mask like this would only dry my skin out. I will have a look at the Cosrx toner though xx

  7. I remember when Kathleen Lights talked about this mask a few months ago and said it was a great mask but when I went to order it it was out of stock, so I purchased another one instead. I love clay masks and I love how my skin feels after I use a mask like this!

I have read a couple reviews praising this product. I currently still have it in my cart on Amazon but actually found Mario Badescu(sp) silver powder at $12 did great on my oily skin. I’ve still been wondering about this mask though. I’m going to check out this other product you mentioned. I have EXTREMELY oily skin.
