Estee Lauder Haul + Mini Reviews

· Quick reviews of the Estee Lauder skin care and eye makeup products I snatched up during a recent promotion. ·

Estee Lauder skin care products, especially the Advanced Night Repair serum, have been on my wish list for a while now. Why didn't I buy them earlier? Because I'm fairly cheap (although I prefer the term "frugal") and was waiting for some sales or promotions before biting the bullet and buying anything.

Luckily for me, Estee Lauder recently had a promotion running that included the following free skin care and eye makeup items after spending $50CDN:

*a free makeup bag and mini versions of;

*Advanced Night Repair

*Advanced Night Repair Eye

*Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Creme

*Brow Now Stay in Place Brow Gel

*Pure Colour Envy Eyeshadow Quad

*Sumptuous Knockout Mascara

Total value of the above-listed items is $135CDN, so I just couldn’t help myself. To qualify for the promotion, I bought the Clear Difference Oil Control/Mattifying Hydrating Gel ($58CDN, full size). Check out my reviews below!

Clear Difference Oil Control/Mattifying Hydrating Gel

I’m totally in love with this daytime moisturizer. It has a soft, minty scent and is a cross between a gel and a cream, making the texture super dreamy. It feels cool on your skin and absorbs within seconds to a soft, matte finish. I can see this being a lifesaver in the summer for oily skin types.

The only downside (besides the price)? It doesn’t contain SPF, which is a must for me during the daytime. To compensate, I’ve been applying a bit of it over my SPF cream to help mattify my skin before applying my makeup.

Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Creme

In comparison to the soft, light scent of the Clear Difference cream above, Estee Lauder’s Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Creme has a strong perfumed scent that makes me gag. I’m not sure why Estee Lauder thinks I want to smell like one of the Golden Girls after I apply my face cream, but I guess someone out there likes it?

Beyond the smell, this cream is a great moisturizer. A little goes a long way; it spreads easily and goes on a bit greasy before absorbing into the skin for a soft finish. I have been using it each night (with my nose plugged) and while I do enjoy the texture, the smell is enough to ensure I don’t purchase this sucker again!

Advanced Night Repair Eye

This is a great moisturizer for the eye area that has a cream-gel consistency and is barely scented. I don’t deal with a lot of issues around my eyes, apart from a few fine lines, so it’s hard to say if this is improving anything there. However, I do enjoy using it and feel it’s great for soothing and hydrating the delicate skin around the eyes.

Advanced Night Repair

The Advanced Night Repair serum is probably the main reason I’ve wanted to try Estee Lauder skin care. It always gets great reviews and has been on my wish list for a while. The serum has a light scent and is slightly on the oily side. It absorbs well into the skin without a greasy finish.

Does it live up to the hype? Honestly, I’m not sure. My skin has been looking pretty good lately, but I find it hard to tell if it has had any drastic effects or if it’s the reason for my current complexion. The full size product comes with a hefty price tag, so I’ll have to do more testing to determine whether this one will be invited back to my skin care basket.

Brow Now Stay in Place Brow Gel

This is a clear gel that helps hold brows in place. Being a mini size, I especially love the small applicator wand it comes with; I think I’ll keep the wand after it’s done to help groom my brows or clean up any mascara clumps in my lashes.

Pure Colour Envy Eyeshadow Quad

This mini eyeshadow quad includes a white shade for highlighting, a soft pink shade, a taupe shade and a dark plum shade. Each shade has a soft shimmer to it and is easy to blend onto the eyelid. But…I feel like the shades don’t last that long. I recently wore some of them for an all day family function and by the end of the night they seemed to have faded and lost their lustre.

Sumptuous Knockout Mascara

I love the wand that comes with this mascara. It is super long and has rubbery bristles, similar to the CoverGirl mascara wands that are still a favourite of mine. The wand fully separates the lashes and makes application easy. The formula is an intense black and doesn’t clump or flake. A great mascara that I wouldn’t mind splurging on in the future.
