The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel (best exfoliant ever!)

I love anything that promises to exfoliate and de-flake my skin and The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel just ticked all those boxes for me.

After testing this product out on the back of my hand in-store (and you’ll find out why if you keep reading!) I just had to have it.

What It Does and How To Use This Facial Peel

The Body Shop Drops of Youth gentle facial peel is made with edelweiss, sea holly and criste marine plant stem cells (sounds fancy) and is supposed to instantly peel away skin impurities, dead skin cells and pollutants for smoother, healthier looking skin. The product is 100% vegan.

The label indicates that you need 2 pumps for your face (I only use 1 pump though), which should be massaged onto cleansed skin using your fingertips and then rinsed away (please do not use this peel as a makeup remover or cleanser). The peel can be used 2-3 days a week.

The Drops of Youth peel has a thick gel texture, is clear and has a fragrance that reminds me of an alcoholic drink (a martini, maybe?). I tried the peel on the back of my hand in the store and was amazed at all the balls of dead skin this stuff removed within seconds of being massaged into my hand.

Now, to clarify, not all of this lumps are dead skin – the product itself balls up and acts as a mechanical exfoliant (like a gentle scrub) and helps remove dead skin as you massage it on. It’s a great option for those who hate those microbead scrubs!

That night, after massaging the peel onto my clean face, my skin felt super smooth, without feeling tight or dry afterwards. No redness or irritation to report either and it didn’t have a tingling or burning sensation on the skin.

The best part? It removed all the dry skin flakes that I tend to get on certain parts of my face (between my eyebrows, on the top of my nose and a little on my chin) without the use of harsh exfoliating beads or heavy acids. I also felt that my skin care products were able to properly penetrate into my skin without all that dead skin in the way.

After shedding like a snake, I went to bed with a glowing complexion and minimized pores. The next morning, my foundation went on flawlessly and looked great all day!

Final Thoughts – Do They Sell This Stuff in Keg Size?

The Body Shop’s Drops of Youth, Youth Liquid Peel is AMAZING. I use it a couple times a week and find it to be one of my most treasured skin care products at this point. I love that it gives me super smooth skin without the use of harsh exfoliating beads or acids. Even better, my pores have been looking smaller and my makeup always goes on better after using it!

While effective, this peel is really gentle on skin as well. I actually look forward to using it and the sensation of massaging the dead skin off my face and seeing it ball up never gets old. Does it remove pollutants from skin? I don’t really think this is possible, but this is one unproven claim that I am happy to overlook.

I would highly recommend The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid peel as a gentle, but effective exfoliant. At $25CDN, this stuff is smoother skin in a bottle!

  1. This looks amazing! I might have to get it. It’s a shame that there are no Body Shops where I’m from, but I will definitely purchase it online! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I used to have an exfoliant that did the same exact thing from a Korean brand. They’re stuff got pretty pricey so I stopped purchasing it. I did really enjoy it though! Will be checking this one out 🙂
