BC Bonacure Color Freeze Rich Shampoo – $14.95 for 250mL

BC Bonacure Color Freeze Rich is a gentle shampoo made with lactic acid and calcium hydroxide that tightens and stablizes the hair matrix at its optimal pH of 4.5 to lock in your hair colour for a zero fade effect.

I normally use drugstore shampoos and my colour starts to fade with the first couple washes and continues thereafter, which is why I only wash my hair once or twice a week to minimize this fading effect.

If I ever have a special occasion, I make sure to dye my hair a week before to get the darkest colour for that day, which is a pain, because kids never seem to let you do things you need to do when you schedule them.

So I started testing out Color Freeze Rich right after I freshly died my hair black (Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in “Soft Black”). This shampoo has a pleasant scent, foams well (but not as much as my drugstore shampoo does) and left my hair clean, but not dry.

I checked my hair in the mirror for the usual fading and am pleased to report that my hair was just as black after this first shampoo as it was before I used it. I used Color Freeze several times after and noticed only the slightest fading; much less than I would get with my regular shampoo. Normally after the first 3 shampoos, my colour starts to look more brown than black, but this wasn’t the case.

Color Freeze Rich is made with sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), a detergent that can sometimes dry out my hair. I’ve been avoiding SLS in my shampoos lately for this reason, but Color Freeze cleaned my hair without leaving me feeling like a scarecrow.

If you prefer to avoid SLS, BC Bonacure also has a sulfate-free version in their Color Freeze line.

The Verdict? BC Bonacure Color Freeze Rich Shampoo delivered on its promise of long lasting hair colour. It didn’t dry out my already damaged hair and left me with an intense black colour even after multiple shampoos. I normally don’t invest much in my hair care, but I might have to shell out a couple extra pesos for this stuff!

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this shampoo in the future; it was much better than my drugstore color-safe shampoo!

BC Bonacure Color Freeze Spray Conditioner – $16.95 for 200mL

I was really excited to try this spray in conditioner. The Color Freeze spray in conditioner is lightweight and like the shampoo, is formulated to help hair achieve its optimal pH of 4.5 for a zero fade effect.

This conditioner also acts as a detangler and is supposed to give hair a healthy shine. You have to shake it before use and spray it on towel-dried hair from mid-length to roots for best results (it will make your hair greasy if applied to your roots!).

Not sure if you can tell by the pic below, but this conditioner is made of a clear liquid and a pink liquid that stay separate until you shake it prior to using. I used the Color Freeze Rich shampoo along with my regular rinse-out conditioner (since it didn’t tell me not to) and then sprayed the Color Freeze conditioner onto my hair from mid-length to ends.

The sprayer itself works great and sprays a soft, even mist wherever you need it.

The results? New hair in a bottle! The Color Freeze spray in conditioner not only left my hair soft and shiny with less fly-aways, but also gave me unexpected thickness.

The added texture also meant my hair held a curl much better and it made my hair smooth without being greasy, even after several days. Loved it! Just don’t over spray it or it will make your hair a greasy mess.
