Cuticle Rescue: Almond Oil from The Body Shop

Anyone who knows me also knows that I have cuticles that look like they’ve been through a wood chipper. Yes, I’m a chronic cuticle picker/biter – it’s a disgusting habit that I’ve had for years and have been fighting to overcome.

As a result, my cuticles are super dry and require constant hydration. The drier they are, the more likely it is that I will pick and make them worse. They are a source of self-consciousness for me and I usually hide my hands away when I can.

The Body Shop Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil

I decided it was time to try (again) to get over this habit. I marched to The Body Shop after work and picked up the Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil as well as the Mini Almond Hand & Nail Cream based on the sales associate’s recommendation.

Both products contain sweet almond oil as the main ingredient and smell divine. The cuticle oil is amazing, because it comes in an easy to use applicator tube with a rubber cuticle pusher on the end as well as a soft bristle brush where the oil comes out.

With one click, this tube dispenses just enough oil for me to brush across all my cuticles. I use the rubber pusher to push down my cuticles and then massage the oil in with my other hand.

I love this applicator tube because you can keep it even after the oil runs out and use the stopper and brush parts with another cuticle oil/cream. This tube stays on my desk at work to remind me to use it. The oil absorbs well into the skin and instantly camouflage my sub-par cuticles.

The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream

The hand and nail cream is super luxurious and smooth. I actually purchased this for my husband (who has the dry hands of a lumberjack) but often find myself stealing it out of his bedside table before bed. It goes on silky and slightly oily, but absorbs nicely into skin for a non-greasy finish.

The hand cream has a stronger smell than the oil version. The fragrance doesn’t bother me, but it could be too strong for people sensitive to fragrance.

*Note – if you have a nut allergy, products containing almond oil are probably not for you!

Results?

Ok…so I still pick at my cuticles. I’m thinking maybe it’s time for a round of hypnosis to overcome this habit? But….my cuticles look A LOT better when I use the Almond Oil products. They provide temporary relief to my tortured nail beds and help hide the disgusting effects of my nervous habit.

If you have dry cuticles, or dry skin in general, pick up one of these items at The Body Shop and thank me later.

What do you use to treat dry hands and cuticles?
