I picked up the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner a couple of months ago, which I really enjoy.
I always tighten the lid on it after use, but these suckers are never air-tight.
After only two months, I found my gel pot drying, which made me even more irritable in the mornings.
As usual, I had to take the bull by the horns and bring this eyeliner back to life. F
ind out how to fix dry eyeliner gel in four easy steps.
To do fix my dried out gel eyeliner, I used:
- a toothpick
- small piece of plastic saran wrap x 2
- eye drops (do not use water, it could ruin the pot and/or irritate your eyes)
Step 1: Add Eye Drops
I added a couple of eye drops into the eyeliner gel pot for moisture. Depending on the amount of eyeliner in the pot and how dried out it is, you may have to add more.
Step 2: Stir The Mixture
Using the toothpick, stir in the drops and mix well with the gel. For really dried-out liner, you may need to add more drops if the gel is really fighting you at this stage. Add 1 drop at a time; don’t over do it or the gel will be too moist. Mix all the drops in thoroughly until you are left with a creamy (but not watery) mixture.
Step 3: Reset The Gel
Using a small piece of plastic wrap, tidy up the gel by pressing and flattening the gel back into the pot using the plastic wrap to cover your finger. Wipe off the excess gel liner from the plastic wrap on the edge of the pot (because we don’t want to waste any of it!).
Step 4: Seal in the Moisture
Using a new piece of plastic wrap, tightly cover the gel pot with the plastic and then tighten the lid over top. This will help seal in the moisture, as the plastic wrap makes the pot a little more air-tight (I should have done this step when I first bought the pot – note to self Angela).
