Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream Packs Some Serious Hydration

I’ve been a fan of Klairs skin care for quite some time now and the latest addition to my Klairs skin care babies is the new Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream.

This lightweight moisturizer is a new product to the company’s premium “Fundamental” skin care line, which is known for containing high concentrations of main active ingredients to achieve maximum results.

The gel-cream contains 63.7% Jeju green tea water and promises serious skin hydration with a lightweight finish – does it deliver?

What Does This Gel Cream Promise To Do?

This vegan, cruelty free moisturizer contains Jeju Green Tea Water as well as Panthenol to soothe, thoroughly moisturize and deeply hydrate skin with a light finish.

Klairs recommends it for all skins and seasons (although I disagree with this claim…keep reading to find out why).

This 70mL moisturizer retails for $31USD at Wishtrend, Amazon or W Concept.

What’s In Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream?

The peach-tinted Fundamental Water Gel Cream contains green tea water, a.k.a. camellia sinensis leaf extract, which has been known to:

-Calm and brighten skin

-Act as a UV protectant

-Provide antioxidant benefits

-Provide anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial benefits, making it great for acne/blemishes

-Help skin retain moisture

-Benefit skin conditions such as rosacea and atopic dermatitis

Besides green tea, the antioxidant and soothing ingredients in this gel cream include centella asiatica extract, rosmarinus officianalis leaf extract and tocopherol (vitamin E).

It’s also fragrance free, alcohol free, colorant free and essential oil free.

The full ingredient listing for this cream includes:

Texture and Packaging?

The Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream has zero fragrance and a very thin, runny texture that feels more like a lightweight lotion than a gel cream, in my opinion; if you tip the jar over, it will come pouring out.

It comes in a regular plastic 70mL tub that’s super cute and includes a plastic spatula to grab the cream so you can feel extra fancy and avoid putting your fingers directly into the tub.

How I Use The Water Gel Cream In My Skin Care Routine

I’ve used the Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream in both my morning and evening skin care routines.

In the morning, I apply the gel cream right before applying my sunscreen and in the evenings I use it as a moisturizer under my facial oil.

The Fundamental Gel Cream spreads really well and a little product goes a long way in moisturizing my face and neck; apply too much and it can go from lightweight to heavy quickly!

The water gel cream has a slightly tacky finish and doesn’t totally absorb into the skin, which may irk those of you with oily skin – just a heads up – but provides great a healthy glow and helps my foundation to apply easily without any caking.

How Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream Worked For Me – Would I Recommend It?

For reference, I have combination-oily skin that is prone to enlarged pores and the fine lines and texture that come with being almost 40 years old.

This gel cream instantly hydrated my skin with very little product. It gives skin a plump, dewy, radiant finish and is great for that “glow from within” look that everyone is after nowadays.

The slight tackiness that this moisturizer leaves behind made my sunscreen and makeup go on perfectly with zero caking, but could give my skin some excess dewiness on the hot, summer days when I wore it.

I know this moisturizer will be perfect for my combo/oily skin in the fall/winter months when the air gets drier and I opt for more hydrating moisturizers to combat the accompanying dryness of the season.

What skin type should use this cream? I think the Water Gel Cream would be great for normal to dry skin types all year round and some oily skin types in the drier, colder weather.

If you are super oily, I think the Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream will be a bit too dewy for you – sorry!
