How Does The ZIIP Halo Work?
The ZIIP Halo uses Dual Waveform Technology ™ to provide both immediate and long-lasting effects using varying frequencies of nanocurrent and microcurrent. As an FYI, most microcurrent devices on the market only deliver microcurrent and not nanocurrent.
The ZIIP Halo sends an electrical current into the skin through the two metal probes to stimulate small contractions in the muscles of the face, leading to a slight increase in muscle mass for a lifting and firming effect. It also promises to increase collagen production, which helps to plump the skin and keep it bouncy and radiant.

Through Bluetooth, this app syncs with the ZIIP device to help guide you through a number of treatment options and gets updates to provide you with the most up to date treatment plans.
I really enjoyed using the ZIIP Halo with this app, as it helps teach you how to use the device and helped me move the device more slowly over my skin and made me pause in certain spots to promote lift for more targeted results.
I did notice times where the app and the ZIIP Halo were a bit out of sync based on when the program starts and when the sync through Bluetooth actually occurs and starts the device (maybe a few seconds out of sync) and the device would usually end a bit after the treatment session on the app ended – not a big deal for me.
Based on the treatment plan you choose, the app syncs with your ZIIP to deliver unique wavelength combinations based on the treatment program selected. You will see for each treatment that some use only microcurrent, only nanocurrent or both depending on what facial you choose, which is super cool.
If you want to follow a daily treatment plan, the treatment plans on this app include a 6 day, 14 day or 30 day treatment plan to choose from that combine six targeted treatments and five full facial treatments ranging from 2 minutes to 10 minutes long.
The full facial treatments within the beauty app are:
- the Founder’s Favourite – 10 minutes long – an expert level full facial and my favourite treatment program!
- The Lift – 4 minutes long – immediate lift results (great for special occasions to look more snatched!)
- Instant Gratification – 6 minutes long – for immediate lift and glow – I loved this treatment and it has the highest intensity of all the treatments in the app!
- Problem Solver – 4 minutes long – for clear, blemish-free skin
- Electric Zone – 4 minutes long – for even and consistent skin tone
The targeted treatments in the app are:
- Jowls – 3 minutes – define the jawline & tighten the jowl area
- Contour – 3 minutes – definition exactly where you want it

Once you select a treatment, you can swipe up on that treatment to view the treatment specifics, such as the treatment goal, expected results, current used (nano and/or micro), intensity and difficulty level.
With treatments as quick as 2-3 minutes, there’s no way you can claim you don’t have time to use the ZIIP! I’ve included some screenshots of the app below:
How Often Should You ZIIP For Best Results?
The brand recommends that you use the ZIIP Halo device on your face for 3-5 days per week for best results. After 6 weeks of continued use, you can expect to see reduced wrinkles and fine lines as well as smoother and firmer skin.
If you’re someone that loves buying skin care gadgets but doesn’t really have the follow-through to use it consistently, you can expect to see less of the long-lasting results or may not be able to maintain the results you’ve achieved. However, it will still provide the instant lift in your skin that can last up to 72 hours after treatment if you prefer to use it once in a while instead of multiple times per week.

How To Use The ZIIP Halo
The website and the user’s manual provide very detailed instruction on how to use the ZIIP Halo, but for a simple run-down, the process looks like:
- Fully cleanse the skin and dry. Apply the Electric Complex Gel (4-8 pumps) on the areas you wish to treat (excluding inside the eye area and the center of your neck, which cannot be treated with the ZIIP Halo).
- Turn on the device and sync the device to the treatment you have selected on the device OR avoid the app and continue with the 4-minute pre-programmed treatment. The ZIIP Halo lights up in white around the outside when turned on.
- Place both globes onto the skin and glide them in an upwards motion over the treatment area on one side of your face. The ZIIP Halo will vibrate every 5 seconds to let you know when to repeat the movement starting at the bottom again. When it beeps, move to the other side of your face and repeat. Both metal probes need to be touching the skin for the current to flow.
- The ZIIP Halo automatically turns off when the treatment is completed. You can rinse or wipe off the gel and continue on with your regular skin care products at this point. Gently wipe the metal globes with a clean, dry cloth to remove any gel from them.
The device itself is lightweight, although it did take me a couple tries to get used to holding it and gliding it around the curves and valleys of my face.
Note: Any conductive gel will work with the ZIIP Halo.

What Does Microcurrent Feel Like?
If the app syncs with your device and only uses nanocurrent, it won’t provide much sensation on the skin. The microcurrent, however, can provide a bit of a warm, buzzing sensation on the skin. I notice in some spots of my face I’ll feel nothing, while on other parts I can feel some vibration within my skin from the microcurrent.
I do notice on spots where I have thicker facial hair (upper lip and chin) I’ll feel a prickly sensation, so I try to remember to de-fuzz regularly.
Overall, the ZIIP Halo is not painful to use, so don’t be afraid!

How I Enjoyed The ZIIP Halo
As someone who tries to keep her skin looking youthful and healthy without fillers, Botox or invasive procedures, I think the ZIIP Halo is a great investment.
As mentioned above, I love using the app with my ZIIP Halo to really slow down and target my treatments (I tended to move much more quickly with my other microcurrent devices). The treatment itself is quite relaxing and the ZIIP glides over the Electric Complex Gel easily with no snagging or pulling.
Instant Results? The first couple times using the ZIIP Halo (following the 10-minute Founder’s Favourite treatment) my skin looked more lifted and felt super smooth. I love using the ZIIP around my eye area to lift my brows and de-puff my tired eyes (since I barely sleep anymore).
Longer-Term Results? After using the ZIIP at least 3 times per week, I noticed that my eye brows looked much more lifted and my skin felt smoother and firmer. The area around my eyes also looked way less puffy and my pores looked less enlarged, which is always a plus for me.
I also have two horizontal lines on the right side of my forehead that are quite deep (wrinkles, no longer fine lines) and I noticed these lines looked less deep and pronounced after using the ZIIP Halo, which made me quite happy! I did spend more time on these deep-set lines when performing my facial treatments to really firm up that area and will continue to do so.
The ZIIP Halo is also the perfect device to lift, firm and boost radiance before an outing or special event, so I will definitely be adding it to my pre-event glow up checklist or as an emergency skin saviour for those days when I look like I’ve only gotten 2 hours of sleep (which is most nights).
Besides the skin care benefits, I also enjoyed using this device because it’s quite relaxing and a great way to wind down and de-stress before bed.
Will I continue to use the ZIIP Halo? Most definitely – I love microcurrent facials and although you really need to use them consistently for maintained results, which I sometimes fail to do when life gets busy, I love the instant lift and de-puff this device gives me whenever my skin needs a pick-me-up!
