Is there anything harder than trying to find the right bronzer for pale skin? It’s right up there with doing math in my head or trying to wax my own legs. Luckily I like a good challenge.
But I heard a bunch of great things about the Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer, so I just had to grab it and review it for you!

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Lite Bronzer
This is a matte powder bronzer from Benefit Cosmetics that is targeted to lighter skin types that find the original formula to dark or brown for their pale skin. This powder has a lovely scent and comes in box packaging with a finely milled powder for a smooth finish. It also comes with a flat brush to apply the powder, which I never really use.
This bronzer is great for adding some warmer tones to your skin without looking too brown or orange and is meant to be applied to the areas of your face that would naturally get more colour from the sun, like the top of your forehead, the top of your nose and cheekbones. The Hoola Lite shade works for pale skin because the shade is more gray than brown.
Can Hoola Lite be used as a contour? Yes – if you like the shade on your skin it can definitely be used as a contour powder to add some definition to your face.
Hoola Lite – How It Works
The Benefit Hoola Lite shade looks really nice in the box; a light taupe shade that I was excited to try out. I have to admit, I’m not crazy about the cardboard box packaging of this product. The box doesn’t make it easy to get a large brush into, but it’s workable.
The formula of the bronzer itself is soft and smooth. It spreads easily onto the skin and the box packaging made it easy to tap off any excess right back into the box. The powder does have a faint refreshing scent to it, which I didn’t mind, although I’m not really into fragranced makeup.
How To Apply The Benefit Hoola Bronzer Lite
I like to apply my bronzer just below my cheekbones and around my forehead and temples using a fluffy brush. This bronzer gives my skin a natural glow and shading that works on my fair skin – not too brown or gray, but just right!
Below is a shade comparison of the Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer and the NYX blush in Taupe (my regular contour shade). You can see the orange tint in the Hoola Lite swatch when it’s applied to heavily onto the skin, so be sure to always apply it with a fluffy brush:
Does Hoola Lite Work For My Pale Skin?
When lightly applied, the Hoola Lite bronzer is a great option for my fair skin when I’m looking for some more definition in my face. The shade works really well and while I’m not a fan of the packaging or the fragrance, I do enjoy how smoothly this bronzer applies.
