Why Catrice Cosmetics Should Be On Your Drugstore Makeup Radar

I love trying out new drugstore makeup brands and Catrice Cosmetics is one that I’ve heard a ton of great things about but haven’t been able to test…until now.

Catrice Cosmetics is now available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada (yas!) and I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation, Liquid Camouflage Concealer and the Self-Made Bae eyeshadow palette to try out.

About The Brand

Catrice Cosmetics touts that they are committed to a cleaner standard for their makeup products.

Their products have always been PETA-approved 100% cruelty free and comply with European Cosmetic Regulations, which restricts 1500 ingredients from being used in their beauty products.

Catrice Cosmetics has also decided to ban the use of 60+ ingredients that the brand deemed unacceptable, including certain dyes, volatile silicones, specific fragrances and allergens, chelating agents and micro-plastic particles.

Most of their products are vegan, paraben free, gluten free, perfume free, alcohol free and oil free, but check the details on each product to see exactly what “Free From” claims are in that product.

Catrice plans to launch the brand “Clean ID” in summer 2020, which will be the brand’s gold standard of clean beauty, so keep your eyes open for it!

Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

How many bloggers and vloggers have raved about this drugstore foundation? Lots, which is why I was so happy to get my stubby little fingers on it.

Claims: This foundation comes in 23 shades and promises an uber-light, high coverage, natural looking finish that mattifies skin for a flawless finish up to 24 hours.

I received the shade “Porcelain 002” and it’s the perfect pale neutral for my fair complexion. You can see this shade on my face in the pic further down.

The formula is on the runny side, so it comes with a dropper/pipette for easy dispensing.

What It Does: HD Liquid Coverage does what it says – it provides a soft matte finish that looks like skin. It blends well with a brush (it’s a little too runny to apply with a damp sponge, IMO) and gives me great medium coverage with 2-3 drops that I can build up if I want to.

It feels like nothing on the skin and stays intact for a good 8-10 hours after I set it lightly with powder.

I do get a bit of caking with it in my usual spots (nose, chin, upper lip) so I need to take care and properly prep those bits before applying. I think this foundation would be perfect for normal, oily and combo skin types.

Overall, it’s a fab drugstore foundation and I can definitely see what all the hype is about!

Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer

While I enjoy the HD Liquid Coverage foundation, the Liquid Camouflage Concealer is even better!

Claims: This concealer comes in 17 shades and promises long lasting, weightless coverage to instantly hide dark circles and imperfections for up to 12 hours. I have the lightest shade “001 Fair Ivory.”

It’s also waterproof for the days you get stuck in the rain, need a good cry or feel like taking a long swim in your makeup.

What It Does: This concealer is truly lightweight perfection!

It has the most hydrating, blendable formula and is perfect for anyone suffering from dry under eyes or fine lines/texture (a.k.a. us more “mature” folk).

The coverage is great with only a couple dabs of the doe foot applicator and instantly brightens and hides imperfections.

While a lot of people rave about Maybelline’s Age Rewind concealer (which I find to be a bit on the dry side for something trying to rewind my age…), the Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage concealer is way better and deserves way more hype!

Catrice Cosmetics Self-Made Bae Eyeshadow Palette

Catrice released 3 new eyeshadow palettes: Badass Bae, Basic Bae and Self-Made Bae.

Claims: The Self-Made Bae palette that I received features 12 intensely pigmented shades in berry/earthy colours with a mix of matte and shimmering shades that are supposed to be long lasting and easy to blend.

True to its name, the palette shades have the most girl boss names, like #selfmade #slay #boss #equalpay – fun, right?!

What It Does: This palette features well pigmented shades that are easy to apply and blend.

The mattes are soft and the shimmers are creamy and it’s a good drugstore palette for anyone looking to spend a little less on their eye makeup but want a lot of colour pay-off.

I do get some fading during the day with the shimmers, but the mattes hold up quite well.
