I rarely use any heat-styling tools in the summer; the last thing I want to do when I’m sweaty and cranky is hold a hot, metal tool near my head.
My hatred of heat means I usually have my hair in a lot of updos for most of the summer – buns, French braids and twists – so I thought I’d share a few easy, heatless hairstyles to inspire your hair game (and help spread out those hair washing days)!
Browse some easy and fun hairstyles to rock this summer and spare your hair the heat damage.

What Are The Benefits Of Heatless Hairstyles?
There are many benefits to sporting a heatless hairstyle. Here are some of the most convincing ones:
- Healthier hair: Heat styling can damage hair over time, leading to dryness, breakage and split ends. Heatless hairstyles help to avoid this damage and keep your hair looking its best.
- Stronger hair: Heat can weaken the hair shaft, making it more prone to breakage. Heatless hairstyles help to keep your hair strong and healthy.
- More time: Heat styling can be time-consuming. Heatless hairstyles can be done in advance or while you sleep, saving you time in the morning.
- Less frizz: Heat can cause frizz. Heatless hairstyles can help to tame frizz and give you smooth, polished hair.
- More volume: Heatless hairstyles can add volume to your hair, giving it a fuller, more luxurious look.
- Versatility: There are many different heatless hairstyles that you can try. You can find a heatless hairstyle that works for your hair type and personal style.
If you’re looking for a way to style your hair without damaging it, heatless hairstyles are a great option. With a little creativity, you can achieve a variety of looks that are both stylish and healthy for your hair.
1. The All Up or Half-Up Messy Bun
There are many variations on this half-up bun ‘do, but what they all have in common is that it’s pretty quick and easy for anyone to do. If you braid your hair the night before, you can get some heatless waves going on the ends. Add a texture spray first to make your hair look extra tousled and undone.

I used to do this hairstyle all the time when I was a kid, so it’s fun to see it making the rounds again! If you can work a hair elastic, you can easily get this ‘do. I’m currently loving the mohawk version below, which really takes this style to the next level.
This style can also be an elegant updo for a party or special occasion without the fuss. You can find an easy bubble braid tutorial here.

Given it’s trickiness, I’ve included a link to a tutorial on this style here.
