Hydrating + Glowing With I’m From Rice Toner and Fig Boosting Essence

Nothing gets me more excited than trying new skin care – specifically Korean skin care. This time around, I’m trying out a new-to-me Korean skin care brand called I’m From – a brand that distinguishes themselves from other beauty lines with its strong belief in transparency. Each I’m From product proudly lists all its ingredients, the origin of its primary ingredient and the name of the farm where it was harvested.

In this post, I’ll be sharing my review of the I’m From Rice Toner and Fig Boosting Essence – two skin care products that blast skin with hydration for some serious glow.

I’m From Rice Toner

The gorgeous white Rice Toner by I’m From is one that I’ve seen making the rounds on Instagram that instantly caught my attention.

This toner contains 77.78% rice extract from Yeoju, South Korea. This concentration of rice extract provides the skin with lysine, which helps promote collagen production in the skin.

It is free from ethanol, silicone, steroid, artificial colouring and artificial fragrance and is also cruelty free.

The bottle has a small hole at the top that acts as a dropper to dispense the product and the simple, clear plastic packaging contains 150mL if product.

The I’m From Rice Toner is made for all skin types and is available from Amazon and Wishtrend.

Price: $28-$32USD

What Does The I’m From Rice Toner Do?

With ingredients that help reduce dark spots and promote elasticity in skin, this Rice Toner forms a protective barrier over the skin to prevent water loss, while eliminating dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.

It also claims to provide luster and hydration to rebalance dry and tired skin.

In summary, rice water benefits for the skin include:

-Skin brightening
-Anti-wrinkle
-Hydrating
-Firming
-Balances uneven skin tone
-Fade dark spots

You can see the watery texture of the Rice Toner in the video below:

How To Use The Rice Toner In Your Skin Care Routine

The Rice Toner is a dual-layer toner consisting of a water layer and an emulsion layer, so it must be shaken before being used.

This toner is to be applied after cleansing and exfoliating the skin and can be applied by being poured on a cotton pad or dispensed into your palm and then applied with your hands (which is how I like to apply it).

I use this toner both morning and night in my routine.

What It Did For My Skin

While I don’t need the whitening benefits of this toner (I’m pretty white and free of dark spots at the moment), I loved how hydrating this toner was after being applied.

It’s fragrance free and has pretty much the same consistency of water and leaves zero residue on the skin after application. It absorbs fast too and I like to apply more than one layer of it on the days when I’m feeling drier. It’s so lightweight and fast absorbing that you get full hydration from it while feeling like you didn’t apply anything to your skin.

My skin is combination-oily, but the Rice Toner does not add to my oil output during the day, making it great for oily skin types too.

The inclusion of niacinamide in the ingredients also helps to minimize pores and oil output and helps to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier – which is why I love products with niacinamide in them.

I had no negative reactions to this toner and really enjoyed it!

But if you’re not into toners, you can also consider the I’m From Rice Mask instead.

What Does The I’m From Fig Boosting Essence Do?

So why Fig extract? You might be surprised to learn that Fig extracts:

-Are a great source of antioxidants

-Enhances skin’s hydration (prevents water loss)

-Fades dark spots

-Improves skin tone

-Calms skin redness

Like most essences, the Fig Boosting Essence provides deep hydration to the skin and also prepares the skin to absorb the products you apply afterwards.

The lightweight, water-like texture quickly absorbs and instantly hydrates skin. By combing betaine salicylate with the power of Fig extract, this essence makes skin soft and smooth while being absorbed deep into the skin and gently exfoliating.

Fig Boosting Essence also has anti-aging benefits from the inclusion of antioxidant effects from Polyphenols from the Fig extract.

How To Use The Fig Boosting Essence

Essences are applied after cleansing, exfoliating and toning the skin and before heavier and thicker products like serums and moisturizers.

The bottle has a dropper at the top of it when opened that you can use to dispense 4-5 drops of the product into the palms of your hands or onto a cotton pad.

Gently apply the Fig Boosting Essence onto the face and re-apply if you feel you need another layer of hydration.

You can see this essence in action below:

How This Essence Worked For Me

The Fig Boosting Essence slipped easily into my morning and evening skin care routine and gives me full hydration with zero irritation.

My skin feels smooth and soft and it doesn’t give me any stinging or tingling despite the light exfoliation it provides. It also does react negatively with any of the other products in my skin care routine.

Is it Good For Oily Skin?

Oily skin types tend to be afraid of anything hydrating, but even oily skin can get dehydrated.

While not every essence will work for every skin type, I do believe the Fig Boosting Essence can work well for oily skin types. My skin runs combination oily and I don’t find this essence to add to my oil output – on the contrary, I find properly hydrating my skin in the morning means less oil output as the day wears on.

The betaine salicylate in the ingredients is also great for keeping pores clean, something that oily skin types tend to experience due to the extra oil they produce.
