Staying home is a great time to do all the things you said you were going to do someday, but never really got around to doing. And if you’re a busy parent who somehow hit he jackpot and got some alone time, enjoy it!
So let’s use this time to knock a few items off our to-do lists, try something new or just get a bit more organized. Here are 20 things you can do while you stay home.

1 . Cocktail Night (or Afternoon, why not?): Missing ladies night drinks with your friends? Why not get out that shaker and try out a new cocktail or two at home?
There are a ton of great cocktail ideas on my Pinterest board Yummy Cocktails to consider, or get your hands on a copy of The Art Of Mixology and brush up on some old favourites.
2. Create A Spa At Home: Run yourself a warm bath, slap on a sheet mask, put on some relaxing music and light a nice scented candle to create the mood. Whatever treats you can find to relax yourself at home – enjoy them! Because you deserve it.

3. Get Your Blood Pumping: Are you someone who always says “I’d like to exercise but never have the time?” Well, take advantage of this unplanned work/school away time and get in a good cardio HIIT session or try some relaxing yoga.
You don’t need a lot of space or full home gym either – check out a few of my fave YouTube fitness gurus who have great 10-30 minute workouts on their channels that you can do with dumbbells or bodyweight alone:
4. Get Organized: Spring cleaning is a great way to get your house in order before work gets in the way again.
Now is the time to Marie Kondo your life and clean up all the things that you never really get to do in regularly – like cleaning out the garage, sorting out all the clothes that you wish you could fit into again, but know you probably won’t, change the furnace filters…you get the idea.

5. Stay Social: Sometimes life gets so busy we forget to stay in touch with the really important people in our life. Set up a Skype account, a friendly WhatsApp group or, God forbid – just pick up the phone and call them!
Now is the time to get in touch with everyone that you haven’t had a chance to talk to in a while and catch up – like, realllly catch up. Make sure to check on your older family members as well and ask if they need any help.
6. Have A Picnic: Find a quiet place outside – maybe the backyard or condo patio? – and pack a nice homemade lunch for a relaxing picnic (with only the people you live with, no outsiders!).
Because when’s the last time you made room in your schedule for a picnic? Hmmm?
7. Plan A Getaway: If you have a place in mind that you’d like to see already or need some travel inspiration, why not do some research and create your travel itinerary now?
Check out some wonderful travel blogs, destination Pins or Instagram travel accounts to inspire your wanderlust, or try a virtual trip using Google earth and travel right from the comfort of your own bed.
8. Make A Puzzle: I used to love completing puzzles when I was younger, but then university got in the way and later a full-time job. But having kids has made me pull out the puzzles again and I’ve found that puzzles are something I really enjoy and can do on my own too.
9. Read A Book: Can’t escape from the confines of the house? Why not escape with your imagination through a great book. Check out the New York Times Best Sellers list and order a few.
10. Get Outside: Boost your endorphins by going for a walk or even just sit on your patio. Some fresh air and daylight can do great things for your mood and seeing greenery or water is claimed to reduce stress levels.
11. Educate Yourself: There are a lot of online courses or podcasts available that can teach you new things, promote mental health or open your mind to new hobbies or ideas.
Always wanted to learn another language? Create a lifestyle blog with Globalgraphics? Want to find a few good makeup tutorials on YouTube? These things are just a few mouse clicks away!
12. Meditate: Something admittedly I’ve never tried, meditating is supposed to be a great way to clear your mind of clutter and anxiety to help centre yourself. Not sure where to start? Me neither – so these meditation apps can help us beginners out.
13. Start A Journal: Journaling, like meditating, is a great way to get some of the things fogging up your mind out and onto paper.
Consider writing about how you’re feeling about what’s going on, some of the things you’ve accomplished and some of the things you’d like to do to put things into perspective and help organize your thoughts.
14. Make A Smoothie: It can be hard to fit in all the vitamins and nutrients you need in a day, but a smoothie is a delicious way to do it. Personally, I plan to use some of my frozen bananas to try this Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie as a stay at home treat.
15. Stream + Binge: Now is the time I’ll be trying to catch up on all my Netflix shows that I never have time to watch due to work and the kids.
We’ve also been watching a lot of Disney classics through the Disney+ streaming service. You can read up on some of my fave Netflix crime thrillers or check out some drama/romance/comedy picks here.
16. Re-Decorate: Personally, I get tired of the layout of my home decor every so often, so this stay-at-home gig is a great time to re-organize my decor accessories or plan out how I’d like to style my dream bar cart for the dining room.
You can find great decor tips and inspirational pics on Swoonworthy – an awesome home styling and decor blog that I love!
17. Try A New Recipe: Remember all those yummy but cumbersome recipes that you really wanted to make but never had time or patience for? Well, now is the time to get your rage-cooking on!
Browse some great recipes on Pinterest or order up a new cook book and expand your culinary horizons at home.
18. Try An At-Home Mani/Pedi: I’m pretty sure your fave manicurist and salon are closed at the moment, so there’s no better time to try an at-home manicure or pedicure than now.
Just make sure you have all the right tools to do so, which you can find in this awesome manicure kit here. Treat yourself to some new nail polishes at the same time too.

19. Have A Dance Party: Why not try the newest Tik Tok dance trend, or pop in the latest Just Dance Wii game while you stay home? It’s a great way to burn some calories and you don’t have to worry about anyone watching.
20. Make A Custom Photo Book: A lot of us take a ton of pictures on our smartphones, but how often do we actually print these pics for an album? Usually never, which is a huge waste!
Take the time to make a custom photo album while you stay home and print out all your memories so you and others can peruse them in hard copy, the way pictures are meant to be seen. I personally use Photobook Canada for my custom albums, but there are a lot of online options to try!
