Summer is on it’s way, but is your wardrobe summer-ready?
Personally, summer is my least favourite season and I always struggle to fill my summer wardrobe as a result. But knowing what key pieces you need to look fabulous all summer long can help, especially when you can mix and match summer outfit staples.
Below are some summer style trends that continue to inspire my summer shopping – which one is your favourite?

1. High-Waisted Self Tie Pants & Shorts (a.k.a. Paper-Bag Pants)
You can’t throw a stone without hitting someone wearing these tie-up pants in summer. Chic and feminine, they are super comfortable – like pajama pants, just more office appropriate.
Great for any age, I find these tie-up pants, capris and shorts especially great for new moms who need comfy pants that are slimming and adjustable on the waist. They also cinch at the waist for a slimmer appearance.
Tip: Throw a blazer on top to make this outfit office worthy or evening ready!
2. Jumpsuits & Rompers
When the jumpsuit trend started a few years back, I immediately fell in love. Again, a super comfy option that can be dressed up or down for all occasions.
If you have the confidence for it, the romper is the flirty shorts version of the jumpsuit. Maybe one day I’ll find the nerve to actually get one!
3. Off-The-Shoulder Tops
I haven’t grabbed one of these tops yet, but hope to soon. While a little risqué for the office, these tops or dresses are great for a summer BBQ or a night out.
I especially love the long-sleeve version of this top, since I hate showing my upper arms (my keratosis pilaris bumps are currently in full swing). Most of the off-the-shoulder styles are also on the baggy side, so you can wear one without having to worry about any unwanted bits hanging out.
How To Get Rid Of Keratosis Pilaris For Smooth Skin
Suffer from, small red bumps on the back of your arms and thighs? These are called keratosis pilaris and I'm going to tell you how to get rid of them!
4. Straw & Bamboo Handbags
Ahh, yes, the straw handbag. A more casual bag option that’s made for a day at the beach or a casual lunch. This classic bag never goes out of style. A more stylish take on the straw tote – the bamboo handbag is trending hard right now in the realm of summer accessories.
There’s something so simple, yet stylish about these bags, although you really have to think about what you put in them, given the see-through aspect. I really want to add a bamboo handbag to my collection, but I’m honestly not quite sure how often I’d use it – I tend to pack quite heavy (as you can tell by my handbag essentials post)!
5. Crochet Tops & Bottoms
Crocheted knits are super cute for summer and come as tops, skirts or cover-ups. Rock this skin-baring look all summer long to add a feminine touch to your outfit.
6. Striped Tops and Dresses
Stripes are perfect for your next summer outfit. Go nautical with a blue and white stripe, or choose pastel or neutral stripes to lighten up your colour scheme.
7. Eyelet & Lace
Nothing is more feminine in the summer than a lace top or eyelet top or dress. Perfect for day or night, it can be worn for with any summer outfit.

8. Loose, Flowy Dresses
A hot summer is not the time to be wearing skin tight clothes (if you’re the sweat type), so grab a few loose, flowing dresses, long or short, for your summer wardrobe. They’re super comfy and will help to keep you cool.

9. Linen
Linen is a great lightweight material option that you can find in dresses, pants, tops and blazers for summer. Pair some linen pants with a crochet top or throw a linen blazer onto your outfit on a windy night for some summer chic.
10. Crop Tops
If you got it, flaunt it! Crop tops are always a cute outfit look on top of a skirt, jeans shorts or capris.
11. Capri Pants
If shorts aren’t your thing, Capri pants may be a more comfy option for you. Shorter than full length pants, but longer than shorts, Capri pants fall below the knee and above the ankle and are a summer staple. They’re also a great summer pant option for the office.
12. Shorts & Skirts
Can’t do a summer staple post without shorts and skirts, right? Whether you love the super short kind or longer, shorts and skirts will complete your summer bottom-wear wardrobe.
