The Ordinary is a new affordable skin care line from the skin care boutique Deciem. Deciem is the founder of innovative skin care brands such as Fountain, Hylamide and the high-tech brand NIOD.
So what’s so extraordinary about The Ordinary? Well, this brand focuses on providing effective, tried and tested skin care ingredients at dirt cheap prices.
How cheap? The most expensive item in its line up is its Multi-Technology Peptide Serum for $15 CDN for 30ml…that’s right, $15!

The line is made up of mostly serums with only a few active ingredients at high concentrations (which helps keep costs low).
The brand also provides a handy reference table that identifies each product, how and when you should use it in your skin care routine, and what products/ingredients you should avoid using at the same time (thank you Deciem).
The products are also cruelty free.
Items From The Ordinary I Have My Eye On..
*Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 – ($7CDN)
*Lactic Acid (5% or 10% strength) + Hyaluronic Acid 2% – ($7CDN)
*Granactive Retinoid in 2% with Squalane – (hello, I want this! – $10CDN)
*Niacinamide 10% + 1% Zinc – (this one too…$6CDN)
*Vitamin C Suspension 23% + Hyaluronic Acid Spheres 2% – ($6CDN)
*100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil – ($10CDN)
Note: (If you’re unsure as to how retinoids, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide can improve various skin conditions, read this).
I’m super annoyed because I just bought the 30mL 10% Niacinamide Booster from Paula’s Choice for $42USD (plus duties/taxes and a few add-ons to get free shipping).
I found out about The Ordinary’s skin care products about a week later…their 30mL Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum is only $6CDN and ships for free.
Head….exploding….
I plan to order the 2% Retinoid and the 10% Niacinamide when my Paula’s Choice products of similar ingredients start to deplete.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t order some in the mean time….
Can you afford not to try this stuff?
pin me for later!

I’ve never heard of this brand before! It does sound like they’re products are quite effective, though, and more reasonably priced than similar brands. 🙂 Thanks for sharing! x

They’re definitely getting a lot of positive buzz and I think it’s great for people on a budget who can’t afford to drop $50+ dollars on a retinol cream.
Oh yeah that sounds so decent especially for the price! 😀
