Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil Skin Care

If you’ve ever had acne and spent time researching every possible way to fight it, then you’ve most likely come across tea tree oil as a natural solution. While I don’t suffer from acne at the moment, I can remember using tea tree oil drops in my twenties to spot-treat my pimples.

Why? Because tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial that is great for fighting oil and reducing blemishes – and it’s the main ingredient in Thursday Plantation skin care! This range uses 100% pure Australian tea tree oil in its skin care products and today I’m sharing how their facial wipes, foaming cleanser, toner and moisturizer worked out for my combination skin.

About Thursday Plantation

Thursday Plantation is a natural Australian skin care range that uses certified 100% natural tea tree oil to fight acne and destroy oil. Besides acne treatment, the brand also has products geared to foot care, hair care, oral care and body care using tea tree oil as the key ingredient.

Tea Tree Face Wipes – 25 wipes/pack

Honestly, I’m not a fan of face wipes to cleanse or remove makeup, but in the interest of my readers that use them, I valiantly tested out these face wipes for you!

What’s In Them: Anti-bacterial/oil fighting power of 100% pure Australian tea tree oil with the calming properties of copaiba oil to cleanse and soothe acne prone or oily skin. These wipes are also:

  • 100% naturally derived
  • Biodegradable
  • Made with wintergreen leaf extract, natural lactic acid, aloe vera, witch hazel, sea salt extract
  • Free from petrolatum, mineral oils, silicon, SLS, SLES, animal derived ingredients and parabens

These wipes are not intended for use around the eyes (the cooling sensation will make them burn and they’re way too drying on the eyes, trust me!).

Did They Work? As I dislike facial wipes, I was a little worried about how I would react to these ones, but they did remove my makeup very well using only one wipe. I didn’t experience any irritation from these wipes (except when I used them incorrectly on my eyes, because I rarely read the instructions first).

Although the wipes didn’t leave any residue on me, I did opt to rinse my face afterwards with water, since I didn’t feel quite right skipping this step (which is optional, you can skip rinsing if you like).

The Tea Tree wipes left my skin quite matte and clean afterwards, so if you have oily skin that drives you nuts and enjoy using facial wipes as a quick cleanse, these wipes have your name on them.

Tea Tree Face Wash Foam (150mL)

I’m always a little leery of foaming face washes, since some formulas can leave my skin feeling tight and dry. However, this foaming cleanser is quite nice and totally sulfate-free!

What’s In It? Tea tree oil to fight sebum and bacteria in a gentle, non-drying “soap free” formula. It’s also made with chamomile to soothe skin and reduce redness and has a lovely eucalyptus scent from the Eucalyptus Citriodora Oil included in the ingredients.

How It Works: This cleanser has a lovely, cloud-like foam that easily cleans my skin with only half a pump when mixed with water. The brand claims this cleanser removes makeup, but I always recommend using a proper makeup remover first and following up with a good cleanser as a second cleanse (translation: I did not try this as a makeup remover!).

Besides the lovely scent, this cleanser has a cooling sensation on the skin and removes every last stitch of oil without leaving my skin tight, dry or red. Overall, I enjoyed this foaming face wash and was relieved at how gentle it was. I often use it in the morning or in the evening as a second cleanser after removing my makeup first – love it!

Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner (100mL)

If you’re looking for a clean, natural, mattifying toner, I’ve just discovered the mattest of them all!

What’s In It? Besides tea tree oil (obviously), this toner contains witch hazel as a natural astringent to tighten pores and soothing aloe vera and lavender to reduce potential irritation to the skin. This toner is also alcohol free and does not contain petrochemicals, mineral oils, synthetic parabens, propylene glycol, lauryl sulphates, polysorbates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours or animal derived ingredients

How It Works: The tea tree toner is definitely geared towards oily skin types and literally eats oil for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a lovely cooling sensation on the skin and absorbs within seconds for a gentle, yet uber-matte finish.

The antibacterial properties of tea tree oil also make this a great spot treatment for blemishes if using it all over your face is too mattifying.

I’m currently still using a hydrating toner for these cool spring months here in Toronto, but I’m saving the oil-busting Tea Tree Oil toner for the summer when my skin usually gets super oily with the humidity.

Tea Tree Face Cream with Rosehip (65g)

What’s In It? This cream includes tea tree oil to fight oil and acne as well as the natural moisturizing capabilities of macadamia oil, rosehip oil and shea butter to restore and moisturize skin. It does not include petrochemicals, mineral oils, synthetic parabens, propylene glycol, lauryl sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours or animal derived ingredients

How It Works: The face cream has a lovely cooling sensation on the skin and absorbs into literally nothing within seconds of being applied. It’s by far the most mattifying moisturizer I’ve ever used in my life! The rosehip oil in it is also great for reducing acne scarring and promoting skin rejuvenation.

Similar to the mattifying toner, I’ll be saving this Tea Tree Face cream for the humid, summer months when my skin gets super greasy; my skin prefers a bit more moisture at the moment!
