how to apply antiperspirant

Going to Bed? Don’t Forget To Apply Your Anti-Perspirant

It’s a little known fact, but most underarm anti-perspirant is actually meant to be applied at night.

Why, you ask? Well…

…anti-perspirant acts as a plug to your underarm sweat ducts.

To effectively plug these ducts, the ingredients are slowly absorbed over a period of time.

By applying the anti-perspirantat night, you give the ingredients time to properly absorb and clog the sweat ducts to keep you dry the next day.

Don’t believe me? Check the instructions on the back of your anti-perspirant.

When I first learned this tip, I thought it was nuts…until I read the directions on the back of my Secret Clinical; there it was in plain English “apply before bedtime.”

I’ve purchased other anti-perspirants that don’t state this in the instructions though, so I decided to try it out.

Does It Work?

Was the sweat factor reduced the next day?

Well, hard to tell. While I do sweat very easily, I find the “Clinical” version of most anti-perspirants work great for controlling my sweat.

However, whether I was less or more sweaty after applying it at night, I can’t really measure with any degree of accuracy.

I still apply it at night because it means less wet anti-perspirant to get all over my clothes the next morning.

The nighttime application means the anti-perspirant has time to absorb and dry out.

Since I tend to get anti-perspirant streaks all over my clothes, applying it at night means I don’t make a mess in the morning.

I usually apply my anti-perspirant before I start my nighttime skincare routine (which takes forever) so it absorbs a little and doesn’t get all over my bed.

Anyone else apply their anti-perspirant at night, or am I the only one?

  1. This is great advice – it is true every morning I put on the deodorant, it gets all over my curse, I say &$#@$ and than change. That won’t be happening again!
