HSIA Bras + How To Pick The Right Bra

We wear our undergarments all day long and they are by far the most important part of our daily wardrobe, in my humble opinion. Personally, I’ve often struggled with finding the right bra and I think most women are unsure as to how to measure and fit themselves for the bra that best fits their body. And besides being comfortable, we also want to look and feel sexy – because women today want it all, am I right?

The Brand – HSIA

HSIA offers an awesome selection of bras, underwear, lingerie and sleepwear in a number of stylish options at affordable prices. HSIA believes women of all shapes and sizes, especially those with larger busts, deserve comfort and support in all the right places. However, the brand also knows that women want to look feminine and sexy without sacrificing comfort, which is why HSIA has put much focus on their structured lace bras (which I can vouch are super comfy and gorgeous!). Are you a DD cup size or higher? The brand has a dedicated page with DD+ cup sizes up to a size 44DDD for your browsing pleasure!

Ever wonder what your breast shape is? HSIA has a Breast Shape Dictionary on their site that will explain which breast shape you have and includes “fit tips” to help you find the perfect bra style to fit your breast shape. They also provide a Bra Style Guide and an Underwear Style Guide that explains the styles they offer and the benefits of each.

HSIA Bras & Features

HSIA has many gorgeous bra collections, most of which incorporate lace detailing for a soft, feminine look available with over 30 colour options. Their fabrics are both lightweight and breathable and made of fine lace and mesh. A well structured bra is fundamental for providing all day support, which is why HSIA bras are made with both angled and vertical seams for maximum lift and comfort.

HSIA bras are also made with pressure-relief adjustable straps, especially for those with heavier breasts that can cause straps to dig into your shoulders.  Their wide backband and U-shaped leotard back provide additional support, prevent unattractive back rolls and keep straps from slipping. Need to minimize your breasts a touch? HSIA is also known for having some of the best minimizing bras and has been featured by Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed, Well and Good, The Cut and StyleCraze as a champion of minimizing bras.

To help you find the bra you need, you can search by the following filter options on the site:

-Lace bras

-T-Shirt bras

-Sports bras

-Wireless bras

-Full Coverage bras

You can also purchase bra accessories, such as silicone breast covers, sticky bras, bra pads, bra extenders and more. What I really love about HSIA bras is the extra wide back strap and wider shoulder straps, which are not only comfortable, but provide better bust support for those with heavier breasts. HSIA bras range in price from $32-$36US.

My Experience With HSIA Bras

The brand gifted me two bras (pictured below) – the dark blue bra is from their “Blossom” collection and the peach bra is from the “Petal Vine” collection. Both bras are very comfortable and fit me very well based on the measurement guide provided by the brand (I’m actually a DDD36 and not a DD36 like I thought).

I especially love how the backband and shoulder straps are extra wide, which is way more comfortable for us bigger chested ladies carrying a heavy load in the front all day. Both bras fit snugly and don’t move or need adjusting throughout the day, unlike my other bras that tend to slide down and need to be pulled back up constantly.

Bra Fitting Tips

Did you know that many women spend most of their life wearing the wrong size bra? It’s true! It’s common for women to underestimate their cup size and most don’t understand what the bra sizes stand for. Wearing the wrong sized bra can be uncomfortable and lead to unsupported breasts that don’t cause back pain and contribute to an unflattering silhouette. So today we’re going to lay out all the bra measuring and fitting tips you need to ensure you get the best fitting bra ever!

4 Tips For Measuring Yourself For A Bra:

1 – The number on the bra size represents the band size and corresponds with the circumference of your rib cage or underbust measurement in inches. Different brands have different band size measurements; HSIA uses your under bust measure plus 3-4 inches to obtain your band size.

2 – The letter in the bra size is an indication of cup volume or cup size. HSIA has clear instructions as to how to measure for your bust size here.

3 – Your breast size and needs change over time as you gain or lose weight or go through hormonal changes (e.g. pregnancy);  periodically re-measure yourself to ensure you are always wearing the best fitted bra!

4 – Need more help? You can view bra measuring tips on the HSIA site here.

5 Tips For Fitting Your Bra:

1 – The centre support of the bra (the piece that holds to two cups together) should sit flat against your breastbone with no gap.

2 – The backband should be level with the floor (not sagging or riding up or sagging down) and sit flat against your back.

3 – The underwire (if there is one) and the cup should fully surround your breast. If you get breast tissue falling over the edge of the cup, the cup size is too small.

4 – Asymmetrical breast are normal – always ensure you fit the largest breast and then add extra padding to adjust the cup for the smaller breast.

5 – Ensure the bra fits on the loosest band setting; this will allow you to further tighten the backband if it stretches over time.

I hope this post helped you discover all the amazing bras and undergarments HSIA has to offer and that you always get the best fitting bra!
