Feeling Relaxed With This Natural Calm Magnesium Citrate Supplement

2018 was a stressful year for me, no doubt.

I was finishing up the last half of my maternity leave in a house that had been under renovation for two years, going into three years now with no end in sight. My nerves were shot and I generally felt like crap both mentally and physically. The stress of everything made it difficult for me to spend time on the things I really enjoyed that helped de-stress me, like exercise, reading or writing and I really needed something to give me the kick I needed to get back into life. I had seen this Natural Calm magnesium citrate supplement several times before on Amazon and finally decided to order a bottle, hoping it would give me some peace.

The Benefits Of Magnesium For Stress and Signs of Magnesium Deficiency

There’s a strong correlation between magnesium and stress and research has shown that the use of magnesium can have a beneficial effect in terms of anxiety. Magnesium also helps reduce the release of cortisol (the stress hormone) to keep your stress in check. Unfortunately, most people are magnesium deficient due to our diets and mineral deficiencies in the soil. If follow a ketogenic diet, you are also at higher risk of being magnesium deficient.

Some symptoms of magnesium deficiency include:

-anxiety/panic

-foggy brain

-caffeine addiction

-constipation

-dark circles

-startle response

-feeling tired but unable to sleep

-weak after working out

-migraines or headaches

-heart palpitations

-trouble managing stress

-sleep issues/insomnia

-trouble focusing

-low blood pressure/blood sugar

-cramps/tightness in muscles

-not feeling rested even after a full night’s sleep

-restless leg syndrome

What is Natural Calm?

Natural Calm is a fine, white powder that dissolves easily in water to promote healthy magnesium levels. Many of us our naturally magnesium deficient. Natural Calm promises to ease stress, resulting in better energy levels, better sleep, less muscle tension/cramps, reduced headaches, more regular bowel movements and more normal heart rhythms due to less anxiety and nervousness. Magnesium supplementation is also good for people following a ketogenic diet (which I have been since mid-December) since less carb intake means less magnesium intake.

Does Natural Calm Work?

Do I feel better when I take Natural Calm? Honestly, yes, I do. It definitely helps keep me regular in the bowel department and I do believe that I feel calmer, more positive and less stressed overall. I had very low points in my mood during the earlier half of 2018 and I do believe I was a bit depressed at certain times.

Getting back to work last summer helped a lot with my mood and I feel like getting back into exercise again and adding in this magnesium citrate supplement have just added to this positive upswing I’ve been feeling during the latter part of 2018 and into 2019. I’ve also been sleeping better while taking Natural Calm, although I still tend to intuitively wake up an hour or so before my alarm goes off, which drives me insane.

Any Side Effects With Natural Calm?

A couple minor issues to note; I have this supplement in the cherry flavour, which tastes like cherry cough syrup. If you get this flavour, be sure to add it to a large glass of water to diffuse the taste or order their unflavoured version.

Second issue, I have to be careful when I take this supplement. There have been a couple times when I took my dose right before a large meal and some digestive issues followed…and by digestive issues I mean diarrhea. Taking Natural Calm while I’m fasting or in between meals gets rid of this issue for me and over time my body got more used to it and the issue became non-existent.

If you’re feeling fatigued, stressed and less energetic, you might want to consider giving Natural Calm (magnesium citrate) a try. I’m getting to the end of my first bottle and I’ll be reordering it in the lemon or unflavoured option, because the cherry flavour is nasty!
