Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Care Extreme Pads Review

I began using Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Care Extreme Pads (what a mouthful) a couple weeks ago and could not be more pleased. I have been dealing with a lot of skin changes the last few months and my formerly smooth cheeks developed a bumpy “orange peel” texture. The existing pores on my cheeks had become larger than ever before.

Quick mental image: the surface of the moon.

I began to increase my attempts to cover these issues with primer and foundation, but at the heart of a great face is great skin. So I went to work trying to find the right products to treat these issues rather than relying on coverage methods alone and these exfoliating pads from Nip+Fab fit the bill…

What’s In Each Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme Pad?

Nip+Fab Glycolic Extreme pads have several amazing ingredients jam-packed into each pad. The key ingredients are:

  • 5% glycolic acid: an alpha hydroxy acid which gently exfoliates the skin, stimulates cell regeneration and helps fade pigmentation/discolouration, which can develop from sun exposure and/or acne scarring.
  • salicylic acid: a beta hydroxy acid that is great for penetrating deep into pores to remove black heads and reduce blemishes. If you suffer from acne, this acid is a must.
  • lactic acid:removes dead cells from the skin for a smoother appearance.
  • hyaluronic acidhelps skin retain moisture and keeps it feeling soft and plump.
  • niacinamide: a form of vitamin B3 that is currently everywhere in the skincare industry. This ingredient reduces enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and wrinkles.

The product has a strong citrus smell, which doesn’t bother me. If you are sensitive to fragrance, please keep this in mind before purchasing.

How To Use Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Pads In Your Skin Care Routine

Nip+Fab recommends using the product at night, as glycolic acid tends to make skin more sensitive to the sun. However, I actually use this product in the morning and apply a moisturizer with SPF of 50 to protect my face.

The container comes with 60 well-soaked pads for easy application. After cleansing my skin, I apply the pads first to the problem areas of my face (cheeks, nose, chin, between the eyebrows) and then spread the rest over the remaining areas and neck. I then go back and “buff” my face in a circular motion (paying more attention to my problem spots) to aid the exfoliation process and use up all the product. Nip+Fab Glycolic Extreme is easily absorbed into the skin and does not leave any residue behind.

There’s a lot of product in each pad, so I turn it over and continue to buff my face using the other side (you don’t want to waste a drop of this stuff, it’s too good!). I finish up with a soothing alcohol-free toner, like The Body Shop’s Aloe Calming Toner, $16CDN.

I do experience a mild tingling sensation, which is not painful and goes away after a few seconds. I have pretty acid tolerant skin, so I don’t experience any irritation after using this product.

Exfoliating Tip: If you have more sensitive skin or have little to no experience using an acid toner/exfoliating product, please start slow. If you decide to start applying this stuff twice a day and go all out, you risk having a bad reaction and potentially having your face peel off.

Test it out on a night when you plan to Netflix and chill and take it from there based on the results. If you can tolerate daily application, awesome. If once or twice a week is your max, great. Do what works best for you, not me. Your face will thank you.

I highly recommend the use of a daily acid toner, if your skin can tolerate it. They do wonders for the skin and help promote a radiant, youthful glow. They are also great for people suffering with acne. For those of you new to glycolic acid, dermatologists usually recommend to start at a 5% dosage and then work your way to higher percentages if tolerated for best results.

**Please note – many toners contain alcohol, which can strip moisture from the skin. Alcohol is usually included in higher doses in products marketed to oil-prone skin for its mattifying properties.

Check the ingredients listing before you purchase any toner (or any skincare product for that matter) to ensure it is either alcohol free or does not include alcohol products in the first 4-5 ingredients in the list if your skin tends to dry out easily. That being said, I have a couple toners in my rotation with a higher alcohol percentage which have not given me any issues, but what works for me may irritate you.

Are the Nip And Fab Glycolic Fix Extreme Pads Worth The $$?

What can I say, I love this stuff! Besides my Paula’s Choice 1% Clinical Retinol Treatment (review), this is the only product I’ve used lately that has had a dramatic result in only a couple of weeks. This stuff does what it says – my pores have reduced in size and my bumpy cheeks are much smoother.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Extreme is on my repurchase list for life – unless they come out with a stronger version, because I can’t turn away a good acid.

  1. Great review! 😀 I have been using these for a while now, before reviewing them myself lol and I have to say I love them so much that I have already ordered another pot of them. I have very sensitive skin but haven’t experienced any reaction or irritation using these pads at all. 🙂
