Makeup I’m Loving This Fall

I looovvveee fall! It’s my most favourite season for weather, style and the best makeup shades!

To celebrate, I couldn’t resist sharing a few makeup items with you that I’ve been using and loving since the start of this magical, turtleneck inducing season. Have you tried any of these?

Fuego Eye Shadow Palette – Crown Brush

I received the Fuego eye shadow palette from Crown Brush in my July Boxycharm Box. At the time, I was so in love with the Reina del Caribe eye shadow palette from the previous month that the Fuego palette didn’t really get my makeup juices pumping.

I promptly packed Fuego away for fall and pulled it out a couple weeks ago to really put the palette through its paces. I’m delighted to say that I’m really enjoying it!

The shades are gorgeous for fall and I’m in adoration of the silky soft shimmer shades, which are wonderful in both formula and shine.

The five matte shades do kick-up up some product and can leave a bit of fall out, but it’s nothing that would turn me off of this palette. I find the mattes blend well on the whole and the shadows last on my eyes with my e.l.f Shadow Lock primer underneath.

For $10USD, Fuego is a great fall makeup option for warm-toned shadow lovers. Swatches below are top row to bottom row, left to right.

If you’re looking for a broader range of shades for fall, both the Makeup Revolution Guest List palette and Soph x MUR Ultra eye shadow palette  (pictured below) are great fall makeup options that I’ll definitely be reaching for this season.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

This isn’t a new foundation for me by any means. I reviewed Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting earlier on the blog and found that it had great coverage, longevity and a gorgeous demi-matte finish, but tended to gunk up on my drier/textured bits.

As my skin has become oily again during the last couple months, I decided to pull Beyond Perfecting out of hiding and give it another go.

I’m in love with the formula of this foundation right now – it minimizes my pores and provides long-lasting coverage that fights shine, while keeping my skin looking healthy and radiant in the colder weather.

I’ve been applying The Ordinary’s High-Adherence Primer (see below) on my textured areas, which has been helping the Beyond Perfecting apply more smoothly over those spots. The combination is working out quite well!

The Ordinary High-Adherence Blurring Surface And Smoothing Primer

I grabbed The Ordinary’s High-Adherence primer while walking by the Deciem store located near my office. This primer uses “advanced adaptive silicones” that promise matte and blurring properties while helping makeup adhere longer, while hydrating the skin.

I was expecting a typical clear, thick silicone primer to come out of this tube, but was happy to see it dispense a white, thick lotion that applies easily and leaves my skin with a matte, smooth finish.

It doesn’t pill on the skin and never leaves my skin feeling dry either. Overall, it’s surprisingly comfortable and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a silicone primer at all. It’s also vegan, nut-free, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

I don’t really find that the high adherence primer keeps me any more matte during the day, or that it does anything to extend the wear of my makeup.

However, it does smooth out my textured bits along my upper lip, chin and around my nose that can cause matte foundations (like Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting, above) to build up there. It also slightly blurs imperfections, which I will take any day!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick – Saucy Mauve #560

L’Oreal’s Saucy Mauve is a pink shade with a subtle purple vibe to it that’s not too dramatic and is perfect for the fall season. The Color Riche formula is creamy on the lips, with a subtle sheen that makes my lips look full and plump.

I’m looking forward to picking up more shades from this range, because the formula is just outstanding!
